Frank R. Bean

1928 – 2009

AUBURN — Frank R. Bean, 81, of Knox Street, Rumford, died Friday, Oct. 9, at the Hospice House in Auburn, following a brief illness.

He was born in Bethel on Aug. 8, 1928, a son of Wesley V. and Lizzie (Hodgkins) Bean.

Frank served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He married Janet Légère on June 2, 1952, at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Mexico. Together they celebrated 57 years of marriage.

Frank was employed for 40 years in the Rumford paper mill, retiring in May 1986.
He was a communicant of the Parish of the Holy Savior. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 24, the VFW Post No. 1641, and the Polar Bear Snowmobile Club.

Frank enjoyed going to stock car races and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Janet L. Bean of Rumford; a daughter, Margaret “Peggy” Perry and husband, John, of Winslow; a brother, Carroll Bean of West Paris; two grandchildren, Christopher J. Perry and wife, Amy, of Wellington, Fla., and Kathryn M. Perry of New Gloucester; two great-grandchildren, Matthew F. Perry, and Grant C. Perry; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents;, two brothers, Wesley Bean Jr. and Stanley Bean; and two sisters, Ruth Trudeau and Carolyn Bean Young.
