NORWAY — The Family Birthplace at Stephens Memorial Hospital will hold a Preparing for Birth class from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, in the Harper Conference Room, Ripley Medical Building. Gail Martel RNC, ICCE, IBCLC, will facilitate the course.

The group of expectant parents will learn about labor and delivery and relaxation techniques that will help during labor. Coaches will learn how to assist through the process and share in the joy of the baby’s birth. Other topics will include making a birthing plan, comfort measures, stages of labor, cesarean delivery and newborn care.

The cost of the class is $50 for those delivering at Stephens Memorial Hospital and $60 for those delivering elsewhere. Insurance will cover the cost of the class.
