VASSALBORO — The St. Dom’s golf team added more hardware to the school’s trophy case by finishing second Saturday in the Class C state championships at Natanis Golf Course.

 The Saints, the two-time defending state champions and unbeaten this fall in the Mountain Valley Conference, finished with a team score of 322, four strokes behind state champion Houlton. St. Dom’s narrowly held off North Yarmouth for second by two strokes, 322-324. Winthrop was fourth with a 334 and Madison rounded out the top five with a 340.

Leading the day for the Saints was Dylan Rodrigue, who fired a 77, which was a lower round than any golfer for state champion Houlton.Chris Bryant and Joe Bryant each shot an 81, while Danny Nadeau added an 83 and Cody Rodrigue shot a 94. Houlton’s scores ranged from 78 to 98.

Dylan Rodrigue’s 77 was the fourth best score in Class C.  Madison’s Seth Sweet was low medalist with a 69.

Andy Emery shot a 78 to lead Winthrop. Livermore Falls finished eighth out of 14 schools, with Derek Castonguay shooting an 86 for the Andies.
