Alden Brackett Chandler
1925 – 2009
SOUTH PARIS — Alden B. Chandler, 84, a resident of Livermore Falls, died Sunday, Oct. 11, at the Maine Veterans’ Home.
He was born April 10, 1925, in Livermore Falls, the son of Oliver and Alta (Whitten) Chandler and was a graduate of Livermore Falls High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II stationed in the Atlantic and the Pacific Theater. He worked for H. E. Fournier Hardware Store in Livermore Falls for 20 years and in 1967 he went to work for A. Maurais & Son Inc. in Jay, retiring in 1996.
He was a member of the American Legion, George Bunten Post 10 of Livermore Falls and the VFW, Frank Mitchell Post 3335 of Jay. He looked forward to his time spent at his camp on Brettun’s Pond in Livermore, where he enjoyed kayaking, walks around the lake and his lunches at TJ’s.
He is survived by a brother, Robert Chandler of Grand Junction, Colo.; two nieces, Rebecca Wrede of Colorado, and Deborah Chandler of California; and his guardian, Phillip Maurais, who took care of him for many years.
