Benefit dinner

LEWISTON — A benefit spaghetti dinner for Kim Stanley and his canine companion, Rebbecca, will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct.
17, at the Lewiston Root Cellar Community Room. The
cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children.

Rebbecca swallowed some ribbon and
as it wrapped around her small intestine, Rebbecca faced death or a
costly operation. The dinner is being held to
raise funds to help pay for Rebbecca’s operation.

Society meeting

NEW GLOUCESTER — The New Gloucester Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct.
15, at the New Gloucester Meetinghouse, Route 231, next to the Town
Hall. The New Gloucester Apple Industry will be the topic of the program. The talk was written by Allison Strout and will be delivered by David Tedford. The public is invited and refreshments will be served. A members business meeting will follow.

LISBON FALLS — Pioneer Chapter 11, Order of the Eastern Star, will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15. Grand Representatives will be honored, including the chapter’s representatives, Jennifer Hogan, grand representative of Maine in Rhode Island and Samuel Kelly, grand representative of Maine in North Carolina. Before the meeting, at 6 p.m., the members of Pioneer, Pine Cone and Lakeside chapters will provide the dishes for the ESTARL supper. Cost for the supper will be a $3 donation to the ESTARL Scholarship. All members of the Order are invited to attend.

Cat show 

LEWISTON — The United Maine Coon Cat Club will have the “A Cat For All Seasons” cat show from 9:30 a.m. to
4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 17 and 18, at the
Lewiston Armory. Cost of admission will be $5 for adults and $3 for
children. There will be raffles, shopping
with various vendors as well as representatives from the local shelter
to answer any questions. There will be no charge for

Cribbage results

LEWISTON — The Lewiston Senior Citizens Cribbage League winners at the Multi-Purpose Center on Oct. 8 were: first, Pat Records and Dick Dennis; second, Irene Beauchesne and Norm Bissonnette; third, Joan Sampson and Aaron Burke; fourth: Maurice Morrissette and Ron Hynes; fifth: Hope Hughes and Robert Oliver.
