Winston A. Nickerson Jr.
1948 – 2009

AUGUSTA — Winston A. Nickerson Jr. lost his courageous battle with cancer on Oct. 10, at the Togus VA Hospice Care Unit.

He was born Oct. 30, 1948, in Farmington, the son of Winston A. and Maxine (Wilkins) Nickerson Sr. He was a graduate of Farmington High School and also attended Boston University. He served in the U.S. Army from May 1968 to December 1969 in South Korea.

After returning to Farmington, he was employed by the Nickerson Car Dealership and later with Mike Moffett, became co-owner of the dealership and the Farmington Car Wash. Recently, he returned to spend his remaining time in Greenville Junction, where he looked forward to enjoying his passions of fishing, hunting and the great outdoors with family, friends and his golden retrievers.

He was a member of several community organizations which included the Lion’s Club for more than 25 years, the Shriners, the Masonic Lodge, VFW lifetime member, Bowmantown Association, baseball coach of the Temple Tigers Little League, Sugarloaf Ski Club and a member of the First Congregational Church, serving on the finance committee for several years.

He is survived by his wife, LaRena; three sons, Winston III and Christian of Farmington and Dylan of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; two sisters, Katherine Moffett and her husband, Mike Moffett and Stephanie Clark and her husband, Cassius “Billy” Clark, all of Farmington; two nephews, Michael Moffett, his wife, Mandy, and their son, Michael David, a grandnephew of Gloucester, Mass.; Cassius Clark II of Farmington; one grandniece, Macie Ann Williams, daughter of niece, Courtney Clark and Corey Williams of North Carolina.
