FARMINGTON — The Franklin County Democrats will hold an issues forum, action workshop and potluck supper at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 18, in the North Dining Hall of the University of Maine at Farmington Student Center, South Street.

In addition, the group will hear a talk by Donna J. Dion of Biddeford, the first in a series of Democratic gubernatorial candidates who will speak to the group between now and the June 2010 primary election.

The issues forum will feature a presentation by the No on TABOR campaign that will highlight the effects that this tax and spending cap would have on life and services in Maine. Lizzy Reinholt, deputy communications director for No on TABOR, will show a video that gives specific examples of the disastrous results a TABOR limit has had in Colorado.

Also included in the forum will be updates from the No on 1 campaign to protect marriage equality in Maine and from the Change that Works campaign’s advocacy work on national health reform.

Attendees will have opportunities to take concrete action at the Oct. 18 meeting and to make a commitment to further action this fall and winter.

The session is open to all Democrats and to people who think they might like to become Democrats. Attendees are asked to bring an item for the potluck supper, which will follow the meeting, at 6 p.m.
