Richard C. Baumer
1928 – 2009
AUBURN — Richard C. Baumer, 81, of Auburn passed away after a long illness on Monday, Oct. 12, with his family at his side.
He was born in Lisbon Falls, April 13, 1928, son of the late Michael and Anna (Steger) Baumer. He married Joanne Fowke on June 17, 1967, and together they raised their family in Lisbon Falls.
He was a veteran in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1952 after faithfully serving his country. He was a self-employed barber for 50 years on Main Street in Lisbon Falls.
He was a very devoted and active member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and a lifetime member of The Slovak Catholic Association. He was a past member of The Lisbon Federal Credit Union Board of Directors. He had a great sense of humor and loved laughing. He was an ardent Red Sox fan who enjoyed a spirited debate, music and singing He was devoted to his faith and family, especially his two grandsons Joseph and Thomas LeBlanc.
He is survived by two daughters, Beth LeBlanc and her husband, David, of Auburn and Patricia Baumer of Boston, Mass.; grandsons, Joseph and Thomas LeBlanc; his sister, Rita Helfen of Bangor; his brothers, Robert and Herman Baumer of Lisbon Falls; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Joanne; his son, Kirk John Baumer; a brother, Reinhold Baumer; and a sister, Anna Rovnak.
