AUBURN — Three people were taken to two area hospitals after three vehicles crashed at Minot Avenue and Hotel Road late Tuesday afternoon.

Joaquin Mills, 44, a passenger in one of the cars, was listed in critical condition Tuesday night at Central Maine Medical Center following the 4:55 p.m. crash. Another passenger in the same car, Kelly Bean, 46, was also transported to Central Maine, but information about her condition was not available, according to a nursing supervisor at the hospital.

Beverly Commoss, 50, a passenger in a another vehicle involved in the crash, was treated at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center and released.

Police did not have addresses for Mills and Bean on Tuesday night.

According to the police report, Rebecca Risner, 17, of Canton, was heading toward Mechanic Falls on Minot Avenue when she attempted to make a left turn onto Hotel Road. Mills and Bean were both passengers in the car that she was driving.

Auburn police Sgt. Gary Boulet said that Risner turned the vehicle into the path of an oncoming vehicle driven by Agostino Samson, 55, of Harrison. Commoss was the owner of and passenger in the car driven by Samson.

The Risner’s vehicle then pushed Samson’s vehicle into a third vehicle driven by Nancy Reynolds, 58, of Turner, who was stopped at a light on Hotel Road.

Damage to 1995 Dodge four-door driven by Risner and owned by Lorraine Risner of Canton was estimated at $7,500; to the 1992 Mercury four-door driven by Samson at $5,000; and to the 1999 Toyota four-door driven by Reynolds and owned by Walter Reynolds of Turner, $250.
