Genealogical society

AUBURN — The Maine Franco-American Genealogical Society will host Linda Cote-Dube at its semi-annual meeting at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, at the MFGS Library in the Great Falls School and Art Center, Academy and High streets. Cote-Dube, from Northern Maine, has written many books on family ancestry and will speak about genealogy and how she gathers information for her books.

The society will meet and have the election of officers, followed by the presentation.

Cemetery association

AUBURN — The North Auburn Cemetery Association will meet at 7
p.m. Monday, Oct. 19, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Lebel, 625 No. Auburn Rd. Those interested are invited to attend.

conference on Monday, Oct. 19 at the Wyndham Airport Hotel in South

Workplace violence

LEWISTON — The YWCA of Central Maine will host the American Red Cross
“Violence in the Workplace” injury prevention module from noon to 1 p.m. Monday, Oct.
19.  Participants may bring a brown bag lunch. The presentation is suitable for both
men and women and will help employees and employers determine what is
workplace violence, how to prevent it and what to do as a victim of workplace violence.

The free class will take place in the Vachon Room at the YWCA, 130
East Ave. Limited space is available. Register by calling
the YWCA of Central Maine at 795-4050.
