Grange meeting
POLAND — Excelsior Grange 5, 446 Harris Hill Rd, will meet at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17. A representative of the Lifeflight air ambulance service operated by
Central Maine Healthcare will speak. All who are interested in learning more about Lifeflight are urged to
hear the presentation. The Grange business meeting will
follow and all may attend to learn more about the Grange.
Marriage equality
AUBURN — An interfaith celebration for marriage equality will be held at 5 p.m.
Sunday, Oct. 18, hosted by the First Universalist Church of
Auburn, 169 Pleasant St. A reception will follow the service. The service, sponsored by
the Lewiston/Auburn branch of the Religious Coalition for the Freedom
to Marry, will be led by representatives of diverse faith traditions,
including Methodist, Episcopal, Jewish, Unitarian Universalist and
United Church of Christ, and multi-faith chaplains from Bates College.

Rebekahs
AUBURN — Liberty Rebekah Lodge 94 will meet at 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 19, at the
Odd Fellows and Rebekahs Home, 85 Caron Lane. A sandwich
buffet will be served to honor the newly appointed District Deputy President and
Marshal of District 3 of the Rebekah Assembly of Maine. The business meeting will begin at 7 p.m. and the District Deputy President will
be introduced to the members and will outline the new Rebekah Assembly
President’s program for 2009-10. The officers not present at the installation ceremony on Oct. 5 will be installed by the new
District Deputy President.
AARP
LEWISTON — The Androscoggin Chapter 4077 of AARP will meet at 1:15 p.m. Monday, Oct. 19, at the Multi-Purpose Center, 145 Birch St. The speaker will be Margaret Ross from SeniorsPlus who will speak on the changes in Medicare. All members are invited to attend this meeting. There will be refreshments after the program. The board members will meet at 12:30 p.m., prior to the general meeting.
Pathways meeting
LEWISTON — Pathways Inc. will hold its annual meeting at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, at the Green Ladle, 156 East Ave. The organization is celebrating 35 years of business. The public is welcome to attend.
Literary union
AUBURN — The Woman’s Literary Union After Dark Club will meet at 7 p.m.
Tuesday, Oct. 20, at the clubhouse, 19 Elm St. The featured speaker
will be Dave Sargent. Sargent is a native of Auburn and he lives at the
farmstead built for his great-grandparents after the Civil War. His
talk will highlight his experiences as a writer and amateur historian
with emphasis on local interests that can bring “History for the
Average Person” to life. Hospitality will be provided by Betty Turgeon.
Refreshments will be served and the public is welcome.
Bridge play
LEWISTON — The Lewiston-Auburn Duplicate Bridge Club met on Oct. 13 at the Multi-Purpose Center. Winners in Flight A were: first, Patricia Garcia and David Lock; second, Jeanine Kivus and Fred Letourneau; third, Rosemarie Goodwin and Leslie Buzzell; tied at fourth, Helen Little and Lucille Theriault with Richard Balian and Peter Cummings. Flight B winners were first, Richard Balian and Peter Cummings; second, Larry Fortier and Roger Labbe. Another game will be played at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, at the center.
The club also met on Oct. 14 at Schooner Estates in Auburn. Winners in Flight A were: first, David Lock and Patricia Garcia; second, Anna Vitiello and Lucille Theriault; tied at third, Alberta Turner and Lucille Bilodeau with Paul Barber and Luke Merry. Winners in Flight B were Alberta Turner and Lucille Bilodeau. Another game will be played at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21, at Schooner Estates. A partner is guaranteed at both games.
