Ralph J. Sirois

1928 – 2009

LEWISTON — Ralph J. Sirois, 81, longtime resident of Penobscot Street, Rumford, died Saturday, Oct. 17, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Lewiston.

He was born July 20, 1928, in Lille, a son of Eddie and Josephine (Lagasse) Sirois. He attended schools in Lille.

Mr. Sirois moved to Rumford in 1944 to seek employment in the paper mills. He was employed for 42 years at the Boise Cascade Paper Mill in Rumford.

He was a longtime active parishioner of St. Athanasius of Rumford. He was an avid collector of antique coins and also had a vast collection of belt buckles. He enjoyed meeting frequently with his friends over a morning cup of coffee at the McDonald’s in Rumford.

Survivors include two brothers, Fern Sirois, of Waterville, and Donald Sirois of Madawaska; three sisters, Jacqueline Bosse and  Gertrude Turk, both of Connecticut, and Priscilla Fournier of Lewiston; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife, Doris (Gastonguay) Sirois, who died in May 1991; and two brothers, Adrien and Gilman Sirois.
