The “Great Fire of 1886” exhibit showcasing photos from the Farmington Historical Society’s collection will be on view Oct. 22-24 in the old Sun Journal office, next to Tranten’s in downtown Farmington. Featured will be photos of the downtown prior to and after the catastrophic event that left 96 families homeless and destroyed 42 businesses, 32 dwellings, three hotels, a post office and three churches. There will also be a scavenger hunt for children. Adults can help their children find important landmarks relating to the fire and earn a “young historian” certificate. The photo display can be seen from 1 to 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Donations accepted. For more information, call Taffy Davis 778-4275.
