DEAR SUN SPOTS: I am wondering if you or any readers know of any company that may give away barrels or drums that can be used as rain barrels? They are quite expensive to buy. I know that trash cans can be made into rain barrels but am actually looking for something bigger. It is important to our environment nowadays to recycle where and whenever we can. Please call 514-5159. Thanks to you, Sun Spots, and your readers in advance. This column is an amazing benefit for Lewiston and surrounding areas. — Janelle Mathieu, Lewiston

ANSWER: Sun Spots knows of no sources for rain barrels, but wouldn’t mind having one herself. Readers, can you help?

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I need to know where I can have a La-Z-Boy leather recliner worked on. The mechanical part of the foot rest is sagging on the right side. — L. Rollins, Wilton

The locator on the Web site showed the two stores nearest you as F X Marcotte, 132 Lincoln St., Lewiston, 783-8593, or Stanley Furniture Mart Inc., 77 Congress St., Rumford, 364-3160.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I read your column every day just before I do the crossword. What I need to find is someone in the Oxford Hills area who does upholstery. Respond to Sun Spots or call 539-8589. — Beverly, Oxford

ANSWER: The phone book lists upholstery repairers in Sumner and Bethel, as well as in Lewiston-Auburn. Perhaps readers will know of someone in Oxford.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I read your column everyday and find it very informational. I have four sets of dishes that I would like to donate to a nonprofit or similar organization. One set is Rose Pfaltzgraff. Please call 782-4981 to make arrangements for pickup or delivery. Thank you. — No Name, Lewiston

DEAR SUN SPOTS: We have an old Glenwood cooking wood stove. We need to replace surface parts that have come apart from age and daily use. If anyone has a Glenwood sitting around in the cellar or barn, we would love to hear from you. We are willing to travel. Winter is coming, and we use our stove daily. It has become quite drafty. Thank you in advance. Call 268-4613. — Rachel, Litchfield

DEAR SUN SPOTS: In reading your column in the newspaper recently, I read a note from a person looking for a pitchnut (pichnotte) game board. I would like to invite that person and all others to visit the St. Martin de Porres Bargain Basket on the corner of College and Bartlett streets on Monday, Wednesday or Friday between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. We do have the game board that she requested for sale. Oftentimes we have items for sale that are hard to find elsewhere. Check us out. All proceeds benefit the residence for men and women in need. — Connie Lecompte, volunteer

DEAR SUN SPOTS: In the Lewiston paper last month in one of the money-saving ideas there was mention of a Web site where one could find discounts on different items if you were a college student or the parents of a college student. I recall one of the items had to do with discounts on travel. Does Sun Spots have that Web site address or does someone recall the column? I cut it out, but of course have mislaid it somewhere, so am hoping you might be able to find it and print it again in your column. Much thanks for all the wonderful help you give to so many. — C. B., Dixfield

ANSWER: You can read the column on student discounts at www.sunjournal.com/node/232790/. The Web site mentioned is globestudentdiscount.com.
