Alan K. Fuller
1927 – 2009

DIXFIELD — Alan K. Fuller, 82, of 61 Coburn Ave., Dixfield, passed away peacefully on Oct. 19, at his home with his loving family by his side after a long battle with Parkinson disease.

He was born Aug. 31, 1927, in Rumford Point, the son of the late Leslie Lincoln Fuller Sr. and Isabelle Viola (Russ) Hutchinson. He graduated from Upton High School and also attended Gould Academy in Bethel.

He served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Missouri from 1945 to 1946. After returning home, he was drafted into the U.S. Army, where he served until 1952. He was a longtime employee of Morrison Motors in Mexico as a heavy equipment mechanic. He continued his career employed by Thomas L. Dickson and later at G.H. Bass in Rumford and Wilton. He went on to retire from Highland Lumber in Dixfield as a boiler operator.

He was lovingly known as “Jigger” by his close friends and co-workers. He married the love of his life, the former Joan Harmon on March 27, 1953. Together they raised a wonderful family. Their children include Terry Record of Dixfield, Steven Fuller and wife, Sandra, of Dixfield, Melinda LeBlanc and husband, Rene, of Chesterville, Matthew Fuller and fiancée, Tracey Milledge, of Dixfield and Terri (Gallant) Williams and husband, James, of Rumford.

He was a wonderful grandfather and proud of each and every one of his grandchildren, Jill Hawley and husband, Jason, who recently announced he was going to be a Great Grampie, Katie Fuller, Craig Record, Mallory LeBlanc, twins who proudly shared his birthday, Alexander and Brandon LeBlanc, Brandon’s loving girlfriend, Melissa Harvey, Brooke LeBlanc, Sarah Milledge Carter Fuller, Heather and Jamie Williams of Rumford, Aaron and Lindsay Keegan and their children, Leighton and Ainsley, Sarah and Chris Whytock and their children, Madeline and Franklin, Isaac Keegan and his wife, Michelle.

He is survived by a sister, Frances Gilmore of Ohio; a brother, Leslie Fuller and his wife, Marguerite, of Mexico; many nieces, nephews and cousins, whom he loved; a special brother and sisters-in-law, Bill Harmon and Martha, Neri and Jeannette Cormier.

He cherished life and was a kind gentle loving unselfish man. He enjoyed being at camp, riding his bike, tinkering, taking walks and playing harmonica for his family. He will be deeply missed by his dog, Bailey.
