HARRISON — The next meeting of the Zeta Chapter will be a joint meeting with Sigma and Upsilon
Chapters at 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, at the Harrison Congregational Church.
Breakfast will be served. Susan Stinchfield-Plaisted, state president, will be the speaker.
The Alpha Psi workshop was held at the Linekin Bay Resort in Boothbay Harbor on Sept. 25 and 26. Seven members of the local Zeta Chapter attended the Delta Kappa Gamma event. Delta Kappa Gamma Society International is a professional honor society
of women educators with a membership of 107,059 in 17 countries.
The international speaker, Sue Torr, of Devonport, Plymouth, Great Britain, described the joy of overcoming the isolation and exclusion of illiteracy. Torr is an adult literacy campaigner who was awarded a Member of the British Empire for Outstanding Service to the Community. Zeta Chapter also hosted Torr at their September meeting.
An all women’s group, the Back Bay Fiddlers, provided the evening entertainment. The 18 different educator workshops ranged from illustrating children’s books to Jason Hunt’s update on Maine’s HIV prevention efforts.
Zeta members Jo Nickerson and Alice Deegan presented a workshop on producing a PowerPoint presentation using Keynote on MacBooks. Member Donna Kennison presented a scrapbooking workshop.
