A man assaulted a jogger as she ran on Summer Street near Riverside Street in the Back Bay area at about 5:50 p.m. Monday, police said.
The 21-year-old Bates College student said a dark compact sedan approached her as she was running, its headlights off and three white men inside, police said. One of the men leaned from the car’s window and tried to talk to her.
When she refused to answer, the man got out of the car and tried to grab her arm, police said in a written release. The woman was able to free herself from the man and threatened to call 911. The man fled in the car on Riverside Street.
Police said the car was a late-1990s model in bad shape and had the letter J on the license plate.
The woman described the man who approached her as at least 6 feet tall, between 25 and 35 years old, between 125 and 150 pounds.
Anyone with information about the assault is urged to contact Lewiston police Cpl. Timothy Darnell at the Lewiston Police Department at 795-9010.
