Food donations
RUMFORD — The Rumford Information Center volunteers will be accepting nonperishable food items to assist Santa’s Helpers Food Pantry during the Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons.
Items will be collected until Saturday, Nov. 21 for the Thanksgiving drive and continue through Dec. 5 for the Christmas drive.
Anyone interested in donating items may stop by the Information Center, 10 Bridge St., during open hours only. The center is open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday through Saturday during October. Hours for November and December are from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
Halloween dance
RUMFORD — The Rumford Professional Firefighters Local 1601 will sponsor a Halloween dance from 8 p.m. to midnight Saturday, Oct. 31, at the Eagles Hall. Music will be provided by Monsta. Tickets are $10 each in advance or with costume at the door; $12 at the door with no costume.
There will be a prize for the best costume and a 50/50 raffle for the Relay for Life. Tickets can be obtained by calling the Fire Station at 364-2901, ext. 1 or call Mark Tripp at 357-5532.
Harvest dinner
DIXFIELD — The Dirigo High School Class of 2010 will host a harvest
dinner for the community from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for students. All are welcome to
enjoy a potluck meal and support the senior class. Tickets are on sale
at Dirigo High School, by calling 562-4251 or through a student in the senior

Clothing donations
MEXICO — Students at the University College at Rumford/Mexico have organized a project to lend a helping hand
with keeping the children in the community warm during the winter.
They are seeking donations of winter clothing, sizes two to eight, which will be brought to the Head Start Program at the Chisholm School. Items may be dropped off at the Holy Savior Parish
Center, Mountain Valley High School, Dirigo Elementary School, Marden’s and the University College at Rumford/Mexico, 13 Brown St.

Mystery dinner
OXFORD — The Oxford County Republicans, along with Murder For Hire, will sponsor a murder mystery play and dinner, “Politics Can Be Murder.” from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, at the Oxford Rec Center.
