Philip J. Dolan

NORWAY — Philip J. Dolan, 64, Major, U. S. Air Force retired, died at his home in Norway on Thursday, Oct. 22.

He was born in Mineola, N.Y., on Nov. 9, 1944, the son of Dr. William S.C. Dolan and Julia K. Chmela Dolan. He lived in Manhassett, N.Y., from 1944 to 1954, and Garden City, N.Y., from 1954 to 1967. He attended Saint Mary’s School in Manhassett, Sacred Heart Seminary in Hempstead, N.Y., Loyola High School in New York City, and Saint Francis College in Biddeford.

He faithfully served our country in the U.S. Air Force as a navigator, retiring after 20 years. He was a Lt. Colonel in the Civil Air Patrol for many years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the American Legion, the Antique Automobile Club of America and the American License Plate Collectors Association, of which he was vice president. He enjoyed dinners with his family.

He is survived by his two daughters, Margaret Ratte and her husband, Henry, of Standish, and Maureen Beck of Westbrook; three grandchildren, Anthony, Rachel and Mary Elizabeth; a sister, Elizabeth, of Germantown, Md.; a brother, Charles F. Dolan III, of The Villages, Fla.; a nephew, Charles Dolan; and a niece, Julia Dolan, Ph.D.

He was predeceased by his parents.
