On Nov. 3, this Catholic will be voting “no” on Question 1. As a former bartender, it was always a given that politics and religion did not mix; it always causes trouble.

In September, I started to attend Church for the first time in awhile. On my third visit, the Monsignor gave his departing words: “Support Question 1.” My first thought as I was leaving — politics and religion don’t mix, anywhere.

I attend church to pray to God, the God who created and loves us all.

The family of 2009 looks much different than the family of 1909. Some may believe in Adam and Eve because “that’s how God wants it.” I believe God wants us to be accepting of our fellow man; to help our fellow man.

Too many children are born who are unloved and neglected. If a same-sex couple wants to marry and adopt children and bring them up and love them, what is wrong with that?

I want my sons to know the reality of the world and the options, not to be ashamed and hide in the proverbial closet.

Didn’t God create us all? Doesn’t he love us all? Then who will be the judge of us all?
