Bates College students work to create the number 350 with their bicycles prior to the start of a bike parade in Lewiston on Saturday. Organized by the Bates Energy Action Movement, the parade was designed to raise awareness for climate change and coincided with the International Day of Climate Action. Scientists say 350 parts per million is the safe upper limit for carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. According to the Web site 350.org, the current atmospheric concentration of C02 is 387 ppm.
