AUBURN — Estelle L. Hanscom, 102, of 15 Lufkin Road, Auburn, died peacefully in her sleep at her residence on Sunday Oct. 25.

She was born in Mechanic Falls on July 18, 1907, the daughter of John W. and Mable (Bean) Gookin.

She was married to John Hanscom. Estelle was the matriarch of her family.

She is survived by one son, Buddy Hanscom, of Auburn; one daughter, Evelyn Savage, of Auburn; 30 grandchildren; 59 great-grandchildren; and 14 great great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, John Hanscom; three daughters, Louise J. McDonald, Joan G. Burnham and Edith J. Drake Olejasz; and one special grandson, John W. Hanscom Jr.
