FARMINGTON — The University of Maine Cooperative Extension Franklin County office will hold a poultry workshop for small scale production of poultry for eggs or meat.

The course is designed for anyone who wants to keep poultry for their home use or for local sales of meat or eggs. The class will be useful to poultry growers of all experience levels. A reference notebook will be provided to each registrant.

The two-session course will be taught by Richard Brzozowski, extension educator, University of Maine Cooperative Extension, and will meet from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Monday, Nov. 2 and 9, in room 103 in The Robert’s Learning Center on the University of Maine Farmington campus.

Participants will learn how to select the appropriate breed and type of poultry for desired us, learn the stages of development (brooding, growing, finishing) for meat production and egg production, learn how to house and care for their flock for best performance including pastured poultry and learn about regulations for selling poultry meat and eggs in Maine.
