Elaine L. Therrien
1941 – 2009

AUGUSTA – Elaine L. Therrien, 68, of Unity, passed away Sunday, Oct. 25, 2009 at MaineGeneral Medical Center, Augusta Campus, after a battle with cancer, surrounded by her family.

She was born Lila Elaine Harding in Lewiston on March 12, 1941, the daughter of Kedric A. and Frances (MacDonald) Harding. She graduated from Lewiston High School in 1959. Elaine married Airman Bertrand E. N. Therrien, United States Air Force on Jan. 16, 1960. They would have celebrated 50 years of marriage this coming January.

Following her military husband for 20 years, they lived in many different places including Presque Isle, High Wycombe, England, Homestead, Fla., North Bend, Oregon, Midwest City, Okla. and Chicopee, Mass. Elaine made many friends each place they resided.

After her husband’s military career they settled down in the home of her grandparents in Unity, where they have spent the last 30 years. Elaine was a homemaker and took care of the many details of everyday life for her family. Her hobbies included crocheting, knitting, reading, crossword puzzles and bowling. She took care of her grandchildren, who were the center of her life. She loved them dearly and would do anything for them.

She was predeceased by her parents.

Elaine is survived by her husband, Bert; her son, Randy B. Therrien and friend, Lucy Allen; her daughter, Toni Lynn Wakefield and husband, David; grandsons, Christopher Therrien and friend, Tonya Jones and Brock Wakefield, all of Unity; three sisters, Audrey Murphy of Kennebunk, her twin sister, Alice LaBrecque and husband, Paul of Falmouth and Patty Turcotte and husband, Ray of Lewiston; brothers-in-law, Robert Therrien and wife, Barbara of Meridan, Conn., Rodolphe Therrien and wife, Irene of Lewiston and Richard Therrien and wife, Pauline of Lewiston; sisters-in-law, Pauline Dionne of Lewiston, Yvette Silva and husband, Steve of Minco, Okla. and Theresa Parent and husband, Rick of Lewiston; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

THERRIEN – Died in Augusta, Oct. 25, 2009, Elaine L. Therrien, age 68, of Unity, formerly of Lewiston. Visiting hours will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 29 at Lawry Brothers Funeral Home – Winslow Chapel, 173 China Road, Winslow. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 30 at Quaker Hill Cemetery in Unity.
