Book donations

AUBURN — The Auburn Public Library, 49 Spring St., is gearing up for its next book sale, to be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7. Books, music and videos are beginning to come in and the library is happy to accept materials in good condition. Bring books, CDs or DVDs to the main desk or to arrange pick up of boxed books, call 333-6640, ext. 2023.

Moxie festival

LISBON — The Moxie Festival Committee is accepting ideas for the 2010 Moxie
Festival theme. All submissions are due by Dec. 31. The
winner will be notified by Jan. 31, 2010. The selected theme winner
will receive a deluxe Moxie basket, with new and old items, and a ride
in the 2010 Moxie Parade.

Thanksgiving meal

SABATTUS — The Sabattus Seniors will have a meal on Thursday, Nov. 5, at the
Maxwell Hall. Doors will open at 11 a.m. and the meal
will be served at noon. The menu will include turkey, mashed potatoes, vegetables,
gravy, cranberry sauce, bread and butter and dessert. There will be a meeting after the meal and bingo will be played. To sign up, call

Sodality meeting

LEWISTON — The St. Joseph’s Queens’ Guild Sodality will meet at
5.30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, in the Senior Citizen Hall at Holy Cross, Lisbon Street.
After the recitation of the Rosary, Prefect Clara Glendenning will discuss future meetings and programs.
Sen. Margaret Craven will be the speaker.
Light refreshments will be served after the meeting. 

Legion meeting

LISBON FALLS — Nelson-Conley American Legion Post 66 will meet at 7
p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, in the Slovak Hall upstairs meeting room,
Avery Street. All members, prospective members and active duty personnel are
invited to attend.

Learn to make cheese

TURNER — The MSAD 52 Adult and
Community Education will offer a cheese making course, to be held on Saturday, Nov. 7, at the Turner Center Creamery at Nezinscot Farm. The class will focus on soft cheeses that
can easily be made at home for personal use.

Participants will become
knowledgeable about milk handling, preparation and making of cottage,
soft spreadable cheese, feta and mozzarella. Hard cheeses will be discussed. Materials and lunch will
be provided. Participants will go home with some cheese samples from

Dog obedience

AUBURN — The Great Falls Dog Obedience Club will begin a six-week dog obedience class starting Wednesday, Nov. 4. Dogs and puppies must be at least 3 1/2 months old and vaccinated. Beginners class will be at 6:30 p.m. and advanced at 7:30 p.m. For more information and to register, call the club’s trainer Diane Harrington at 784-7578.

LEWISTON — The Lewiston Senior Citizens Cribbage League winners at the Multi-Purpose Center on Oct. 29 were: first, Anna Faucher and Roger Briggs; second, Hope Hughes and John Violette; third, Connie St. Pierre and Aaron Burke; fourth, Muriel Webber and Dick Dennis; fifth, Betty Ames and Steve Agurkis.

Connie St. Pierre was congratulated for getting her first 28-point hand and Muriel Webber was welcomed to the league. Another game will be played at 9 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 5. For further information, call Roger Labbe at 212-9253.

Grange meeting

TURNER — The Androscoggin Pomona Grange will meet for a supper at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, at the Turner Grange. Sagadahoc Pomona members will be guests for the evening. They will provide the program for the meeting, which will begin at 7:30 p.m. There will be a 50/50 raffle and an attendance drawing. All members and guests are welcome.
