LEWISTON — La Rencontre will meet at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 6, at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 150 East Ave. A meal will be followed by Krista Watson, author of the book “Pepere’s Fiddle” and the children’s chorus from L’Ecole Francaise du Maine in Freeport.

Patrons are encouraged to speak only French during the two-hour meal and program. The meal will feature chicken pot pies, biscuit, dessert and beverage. The cost of the meal is $7 each person.

Watson’s book is a children’s story about a little girl and her family who have to escape the British soldiers at the time of the Acadian expulsion from Nova Scotia.

L’Ecole Francaise du Maine offers children an opportunity to celebrate diversity while pursuing their individual paths toward development. The school is a community where students, teachers, families and volunteers come together to create an authentic and mind-opening educational experience.
