SOUTH PARIS — The annual Veterans Day ceremony will be held on Sunday, Nov. 8, at the Maine Veterans’ Home, 477 High St. The event is co-sponsored by the Western Maine Veterans’ Advisory Committee (WMVAC) and the facility. The ceremony is held annually to honor all those who have served the country.
The ceremony will include a flag raising and posting of the colors by the South Paris Girl Scout troop. The speaker for the program will be Lloyd Woods, adjutant for the Department of Maine American Legion and past national vice commander.
“It is always a pleasure to honor not only our veterans in this facility, but to honor all those who have served our country. We need to be ever grateful for their selfless commitments to defend our fine land,” said Joe Cooney, chairman of the WMVAC.
The program will include musical selections, words from the Rev. Mel Young and a welcome from the administrator of the facility, Joel Dutton. Refreshments will be served and tours of the facility will be available. For more information, call 743-6300 or visit the Web site at maineveteranshomes.org.
