Betty Ann Moore
1926 – 2009
EAST ANDOVER — Betty Ann Moore, 83, of the East Andover Road, East Andover, died Saturday, Nov. 7, at her home with her loving family by her side.
She was born in East Andover on March 2, 1926, the daughter of Erville and Blanche (Crooker) Schneider. She graduated from the Kingston High School in Kingston, Mass., in 1944.
Betty worked at Atlantic Research in West Hanover, Mass., and later as a seasonal worker at Ocean Spray in Lakeville, Mass.
She was a 4H Leader, member of the Service Circle in Andover, and a member of the East Andover Community Club. She also helped with Meals on Wheels.
She was a member of the First Congregational Church in Andover and Middleboro, Mass., where she was active in the church choirs, and was a member of the Ellis River Rider’s Club and the Plympton Wranglers Club in Plympton, Mass.
She enjoyed going to bingo with her friends and doing errands for them. She loved hunting, skiing, swimming, fishing with her husband and fishing with Uncle George Crooker at their “secret fishing hole.” She and sister Beatrice went cross-country skiing for several miles up until her 81st birthday. She annually went to White Cap Mountain blueberry picking. She was a hard worker and took care of her family. She raised her children to be strong-willed and hard workers. In her declining years, her daughters, granddaughter, sister, niece and Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice took care of her. “REST IN PEACE, MOM.”
She was married in Hyannis, Mass., on May 8, 1952, to Sam F. Moore, who died in Lewiston on Dec. 1, 1989.
Survivors include daughters, Sandra Wainwright of East Andover, Shirley Geloran and husband, Robert, of Weymouth, Mass., and Sharon Thomas of East Andover; son, Sam F. Moore Jr. of Middleboro, Mass.; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; many nieces and nephews; sisters, Beatrice Schneider of East Andover, and Phyllis Silva and husband, Gilbert, of Havana, Ill.; and a great-aunt, Louise Leach of Canada.
She was predeceased by a brother, Erville Schneider Jr.
