Ruth M. Hartnett

1908 – 2009

LEWISTON — Ruth M. Hartnett, 101, of 14 St. Patrick Ave., Lewiston, died Friday, Nov. 6, at Central Maine Medical Center.

Born in Calais on Oct. 21, 1908, she was the daughter of Ralph and Ann Mahar. Educated in Calais schools, she was employed for several years as a nurse in the Portland area prior to marrying Joseph E. Hartnett Sr., who passed away in 1975.

A former member of St. Patrick’s Parish, she is survived by a son, John F. Hartnett of Lewiston; a daughter, Catherine and husband, Lucien Dionne, of Lewiston; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Mahar of Calais; three grandchildren; and four nieces.

She was predeceased by a son, Joseph Hartnett Jr.; a brother, Edward Mahar; and a sister, Helen Hill.
