Chelsea and Nicholas Canedy

BAR HARBOR — The wedding of Chelsea Wetzel and Nicholas Canedy was held June 20 overlooking the ocean near Thunder Hole at Acadia National Park.

The bride was given in marriage by her mother, Joy Auclair and by her stepfather, Jon Wallace. The Rev. Bill Marshall officiated at the ceremony.

Witnesses were Alyssa Porrell, a friend of the bride, and Brian McLeod, a friend of the bridegroom. Ariana Duncan, niece of the bridegroom, was the flower girl, and Thomas Sylvia, nephew of the bridegroom, was the ring bearer.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Guiness and Porcelli in Bar Harbor. The couple honeymooned in Nova Scotia.

Mrs. Canedy was born in Camaroon, Africa, to Joy Auclair and David Wetzel, while they were serving in the Peace Corps. She later grew up in Torrington, Conn., where she graduated from Wamogo Regional High School. She attended the University of Connecticut and later the University of West Florida, where she received a bachelor’s degree. She operated a horse training and riding business in Virginia for six years before relocating to Maine, where she is now working for St. Andre Inc.

Mr. Canedy is the son of Paul and Louise Canedy of Sabattus. He graduated from Oak Hill High School in 1997 and later from Bowdoin College in 2001. After college, he spent a year in Ameri Corps in the western part of the United States. Following that experience, he taught math at a private high school in Millbrook, N.Y. He returned to graduate school at Virginia Tech, where he received a master’s degree in architecture.

The couple is currently residing in Cumberland.
