FARMINGTON — A “Prescriptions for Health” presentation will be held from 6 to 7:15 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18, in the
Chisholm Room at Franklin Memorial Hospital. Susan Eastler, WHCNP, will discuss the signs and symptoms of menopause, whether hormone replacement therapy is still recommended, what health conditions increase with menopause and more.

The presentation is part of Franklin Memorial Hospital’s
monthly community health information series that is free and open to
the public. Light
refreshments will be served.

Eastler is a nurse practitioner at Franklin Health Women’s Care in Farmington, specializing in women’s health, including obstetrics and gynecology. She is also a certified menopause clinician.

The interactive program will highlight information about menopause, its short-term effects such as hot flashes, fatigue and irritability, as well as long-term risks like osteoporosis and heart disease. Approaches to menopause management to alleviate symptoms and health risks that result from a decline of estrogen production will also be discussed.

“Menopause happens to all women, but affects each woman uniquely,” said Eastler. Eastler utilizes an individualized approach to menopause management for her patients. “No intervention is appropriate for every woman and each option has a risk and benefit,” Eastler said.

Registration for the presentation is required, as space is limited. For more information or to register, call Jodi Cordes at 779-2592 or 1-800-398-6031, ext. 2592.
