What started out as a lark for four Lewiston High School students early yesterday ended up as a tedious chore with scrub brushes and soap.
About 5 a.m. the boys went to Walton Field and started to paint the goal posts. The effect pleased them so much that they “went wild,” as one of the boys later told police. They painted “LHS” on the ELHS player’s bench, the press box and at several places in the bleachers.
They were stopped by officer Earl Nickerson. They discovered that it was a lot more work and a lot less fun to scrub the paint off than it had been to put it on.
