Malcolm B. MacEwan
Malcolm B. MacEwan, 85, of Seaville, N.J., passed away Monday, Nov. 9, at the Ocean View Center, Ocean View, N.J.
Born in Keyport, N.J., he had lived in Point Pleasant Boro and Ocean City for many years before moving to Seaville five years ago.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Airforce serving as 2nd Lt. Bombardier B24 from 1942 until his Honorable Discharge in 1945.
He received his Bachelor of Science in Education from Trenton State College in 1949 on the G.I. bill and his Master of Education Degree from Rutgers University in 1952.
He began his career as a physical education teacher with the North Brunswick School System in 1949. He served as principal and eighth grade teacher in Brick Town, N.J., where he had also served as superintendent of schools from 1959 until 1965. He also served as county superintendent of schools for Cape May County from 1965 until his retirement in 1979. As Cape May county superintendent he was instrumental in establishing the shared-time, county-wide Vocational-Technical program for high school students and adults and the County Special Services School District for handicapped children.
After his retirement he enjoyed Golf and spending summers in the house he built in Sumner along with his Wife Marion until her death in 1998.
He was active in his community having been a volunteer with the county blood banks and Ocean City Community Food Cupboard. He was also a member of the Ocean City Historical Museum. His professional memberships included many state and local education associations.
He was predeceased by his wife, Marion and son, Steven E. MacEwan.
Surviving are a son, M. Bruce MacEwan and his wife, Diane, of Palermo, N.J.; and a granddaughter, Jennifer Martin and great-granddaughter, Skye Rolley both of Salt Lake City, Utah.

His Funeral Service will be offered Thursday, Nov. 12, at 5 p.m. from St. Peter’s United Methodist Church, 8th Street at Central Avenue, Ocean City, N.J., where friends may call from 4 p.m. until time of service. Burial will be private in Seaside Cemetery, Palermo, N.J.
