AARP

LEWISTON — The Androscoggin Chapter 4077 of AARP will meet at 1:15 p.m. Monday, Nov. 16, at the Multi-Purpose Center, Birch Street. The speaker will be Brad Gilbert from the United Ambulance Service. He will speak on first aid initiatives. Refreshments will be served and new members are welcome. The board will meet at 12:30 p.m.

Bake sale

LEWISTON — A benefit bake sale for Sally Crocker will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13, in the Montello Heights Community Room. Crocker has been diagnosed with a life threatening illness and has been unable to work for the last few months. The purpose of the bake sale is to help her with her medical and personal expenses.

AUBURN — Liberty Rebekah Lodge 94 will meet at 6:45 p.m. Monday, Nov. 16, in the recreation room at
the Odd Fellows and Rebekahs Home, 85 Caron Lane. The meeting will open at 7 p.m. A
collection of food or cash will be received at the meeting to be given
to Good Shepherd Food Bank. The Noble Grand, Pam Black, has requested that members bring a reading, story or poem with the Thanksgiving theme
for the program of the evening.

Literary union

AUBURN — The Woman’s Literary Union After Dark Club will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17, at the clubhouse, 19 Elm St. Sun Journal photographer Jose Leiva will be the featured speaker. His topic will be “Life in Photography – Passing on Silver and Gold.” Hospitality will be provided by Marcia Baxter and Cynthia Cargile. Refreshments will be served and the public is welcome.

Advent program

AUBURN — The Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish will hold a four-week
program during Advent, focusing on the infancy narratives of Matthew,
Mark and Luke. There will be a video, followed by small group
discussions based on questions that have already been developed for
the program.

The programs will be held from 2:30 to 4 p.m. on the following Sundays: Nov. 29, at Sacred Heart Church; Dec. 6, at St. Philips Church; Dec. 13, at St. Louis Church; and Dec. 20, at Sacred Heart Church. All are welcome.

Maine class

TURNER — MSAD 52 Adult and Community Education will sponsor “Maine: An Integrated Network Economy” on Tuesday and Thursday, Nov. 17 and 19. During the interactive seminar, taught by John Jenkins, participants will be helped to envision their best community and State of Maine. Pancake breakfast

AUBURN — The Lewiston High School girls’ hockey team will have a pancake breakfast from
8 to 10 a.m.
Sunday, Nov. 15, at Applebee’s, Center Street. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $5 each person.
