Vagrancy often is a charge preferred against men but it is unusual when women, especially three young and not at all bad looking ones, are taken into custody charged with that offense. But that is what happened last evening when Officer Jolicouer arrested Mary Dellare and Rose Labbe of Brunswick and Alma Nadeau of Lewiston. The girls made things exceedingly lively at the station for a time and the officers were favored with the latest songs from the vaudeville stage and a line of talk that would make some of the stage stars sit up and take notice.
50 years ago, 1959
The Lewiston Education Board yesterday gave the Lewiston High School band permission to participate in the Cherry Blossom Festival at Washington, D.C., in April 1960.
The Band Booster Club was notified earlier this week through the office of Congressman Frank M. Coffin that the LHS band may be invited to the Festival.
Club President Paul M. Boulay said last night the band parent’s group has laid groundwork for the formation of committees to make arrangements for the trip.

Project 4 from Lake Region High School in Naples played its way to victory Sunday night in the first annual L-A Rock-Off at the Lewiston Multi-Purpose Center.
Project 4 was awarded a first prize of recording time at EAB Studios in Lewiston by beating out Havoc and Omega from Edward Little School in Auburn, Aftermath of Lewiston High School and Symmetry of St. Dominic Regional High School in Lewiston.
