Cecile Dickey
1922-2009
Rumford — Cecile Edna Dickey, 87, of Roxbury, began her journey home to be with her Lord and her beloved husband — W. Elliott Dickey, who passed away on May 15, 1986 — surrounded by her family and loved ones on Saturday, Nov.14.
She was born on Sept. 30, 1922, in Lac Magantic, Quevec, Canada. She was the daughter of the late Adelard and Philomene Nadeau. In 1926, her family moved to the Moosehead Lake area. She was educated in local schools and in Canada.
On Dec. 11, 1948, she married her beloved husband, W. Elliott Dickey of Newbury, Mass. They both worked for C.B.S. Hytron for 13 years. They also had a poultry farm containing 5000 laying hens. In 1969, they moved to Roxbury and worked for 13 years for Montgomery Wards Agency in Rumford. They retired in 1982.
She was a member of the Mexico Jr. Mother Craft Club, which she enjoyed very much; always hosting the annual Halloween party. Cecile was a lover of all animals, especially those in need. She was a friend to all who knew her and a devoted mother and grandmother. Cecile enjoyed being around family and friends and loved her grandchildren very much. Her step-daughters considered her a very kind, caring and thoughtful Mom.
She was an avid viewer of television; enjoying the Wheel of Fortune, and the Lawrence Welk Show. She was a communicant of Saint Theresa’s Church in Mexico. She believed highly in the act of prayer, saying Rosaries for everyone, whether she knew them or not.
Survivors include her daughter, Michele Arsenault and a special son-in-law, David Arsenault, of Roxbury and their children; Craig and his wife, Alison, of Neptune Beach, Fla., — where Craig is serving in the U.S. Navy aboard the Samuel B. Roberts FFG58, and Ashley Arsenault and fiancé, Stefan Black, of Gorham.
She is also survived by a son, Carleton and his wife, Ann, and their children, Elijah and Celeste, of Roxbury; three step-daughters and their husbands, Dianne Silva and husband, George, of Wenham, Mass., Janet Packer and husband, John, of Newbury, Mass., and Doris Hettler and husband, Kenneth, of Richmond Hill, Ga.; six step-grandchildren; a brother, Roland Nadeau and his wife, Rosalie, of Bowdoinham; a sister, Armande Michaud of Ayer, Mass.; and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to give a special thanks to all the nurses and caregivers at both the Rumford Community Home and the Rumford Community Hospital for taking such wonderful and special care of Cecile.
