Everette A. Owens
1939 – 2009

LEWISTON — Everette A. Owens, 70, of Oxford, died Saturday, Nov. 14, in Lewiston at Central Maine Medical Center, with his loyal caregivers on M1.

He was born on Oct. 24, 1939, in Canton, the son of Austin and Margaret (Williams) Owens. He graduated from Oxford High School in 1958. He enlisted in the Air Force on Jan. 7, 1959, serving his country with honor for four years.

He married the former Marjorie Spear on June 18, 1966. After his discharge from the Air Force, he worked in the woolen industry for Robinson Manufacturing in Oxford, for Eastland Woolen in Corinna, Clinton and Winthrop and for the Forstmann Company in Dublin, Ga. He worked in the woolen industry for over 40 years, until his retirement in May of 2001.

During his retirement he worked as an assistant for Oxford Hills Funeral Services in Oxford, where his caring manner and professionalism were greatly appreciated. He was a very proud member of Masons, belonging to Oxford Lodge 18 AF & AM in Norway.

He is survived by his wife, Marjorie, of Oxford; a son, Scott and companion, Shelly Everett; two grandchildren, Alexis (Lexi) and Madison (Cassie); three sisters, Reta Herrick of Hobie Sound, Fla., and Alice Linscott and Pat Frye, both of Oxford; and two aunts, Dot Weirs of Wilton and Laura Melcher of Dryden.

Everette was predeceased by a daughter, Tanya Lynn, and a brother, Robert.
