PORTLAND, Maine (AP) – Maine’s health director and major insurers in the state plan to make an announcement about swine flu coverage.

Dora Mills of the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Superintendent Mila Kofman of the Maine Bureau of Insurance and representatives from four private health insurers will hold a news conference Wednesday in Portland to discuss actions being taken by insurance companies to address coverage for H1N1 vaccination and treatment.

State insurance regulators have been meeting with health insurance companies weekly to address issues related to the H1N1 pandemic.

Since August, Maine has had five swine flu deaths.
