FREEPORT — SeniorsPlus, other area agencies on aging and TRIAD will collect winter coats for seniors during the weekend of Nov. 20 to 22 at L.L. Bean’s Freeport store. Donations of gently used adult coats for will be accepted for the Coats For Seniors project, which will help keep older Mainers warm this winter.
“This is the second year for the Coats for Seniors project,” said Betsy Sawyer-Manter, Executive Director of SeniorsPlus. “It may be surprising to some how many older adults do not have a warm coat for the winter. Last year, the project distributed over 1,500 coats statewide. We hope to do as well or better this year.”
All gently used or new coats will be accepted at the L.L. Bean Freeport store, then cleaned at local dry cleaners and distributed to those in need across the state.
