Building repairs
Issue: The Public Works building is in need of repairs, including overhead doors, a mezzanine gate, metal siding at the overhead door entrances, tool room lighting and exterior light fixtures.
The scoop: Selectmen toured the facility, noting the repair needs, and discussed buying supplies as well as pressure-washing the equipment more often.
Up next: Arrangements for the repairs have been made by Town Manager Eva Leavitt, and Public Works is looking into possible vendors for supplies.
Bandstand
Issue: A proposal for a bandstand in memory of Mavis Varney was presented to the board. The bandstand would be located on school grounds.
The scoop: Maintenance and electricity would be provided by the town.
Up next: The board reviewed and signed a Memo of Understanding with the School Committee regarding the use of school property for the bandstand.
Agreement renewal
Issue: The annual agreement for consultant services with the Androscoggin Valley Council of Governments is up for renewal.
The scoop: The board reviewed the agreement for any changes. The term is from Dec. 1, 2009, to Nov. 30, 2010, and there is a rate increase from $73 per hour to $76 per hour for the planner.
Up next: Selectmen voted to authorize Town Manager Eva Leavitt to sign the document.
Hannaford
Issue: The board expressed post-project concerns about the Hannaford supermarket project before the Planning Board.
The scoop: Selectmen discussed traffic, groundwater and wetland studies to ensure the town is protected from future liability and a possible waiver for signal device installation at Routes 4 and 117.
Up next: Town Manager Eva Leavitt will draft a letter for consideration by the Planning Board outlining those issues.
