PORTLAND — Forward Bill Walker has been assigned to the Maine Red Claws by the Boston Celtics. Walker is the team’s first assignment from the NBA this season.
Walker, a 6-foot-6 forward, has appeared in one game for the Celtics this season and has logged two minutes of playing time. The Kansas State product has posted career averages of 2.9 points and 1.0 rebound in 7.2 minutes per game over 30 games with the Celtics.
This is Walker’s second assignment to the NBA D-League. In 15 games with the Utah Flash last season, he averaged 18.9 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.5 points in 30.5 minutes.
Scoring in double-figures in 14 games, Walker scored a career-high 29 points in a Nov. 29, 2008 road loss to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers in McAllen, Texas. Walker arrived in Portland on Saturday and will be ready to participate in practice tomorrow morning as well as the Red Claws’ scheduled scrimmage tomorrow night.
