Doria B. Leclerc
1922 – 2009
FARMINGTON — Doria B. Leclerc, 87, passed away peacefully at Sandy River Rehabilitation Center on Nov. 22, where she had been a resident for seven years. She had previously made her home on Lavoie Street in Jay and was a longtime resident of Main Street in Livermore Falls.
She was born on Feb. 5, 1922, in Livermore Falls, the daughter of Odilon and Delia (Emond) Guerin. She graduated from St. Rose of Lima School and attended Livermore Falls High School. After high school, she worked in local stores.
During World War II she began corresponding with Gerard (Gerry) Leclerc who was stationed in the Philippines. Shortly after Gerry’s return from the war, they were married at St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay. They lived in Lewiston the first few years of their marriage and later moved to Livermore Falls, where he opened a small store known as Leclerc’s Variety.
They began to enlarge their family and became the proud parents of eight sons through the years. He died in 1971, and she worked in the store for a few more years, then closed the business. She loved to crochet, read novels, watch her favorite soap operas, the Lawrence Welk Show and spend time with her family. She was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay and a member of the “Lionettes,” the Daughters of Isabella, St. Jean the Baptiste, Ladies of St. Anne and the Jay-Livermore Falls Senior Citizens.
She is survived by eight sons and their spouses, Robert and Jerlaine, Donald and Linda, Norman and Kathy, Richard and Terry, Ronald and Kathy, Mark and Brenda, Daniel and companion, Marie Real and James and companion, Sharon Lacy; a brother, Donald Guerin and his wife, Nancy, of Augusta; she was blessed with 20 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Gerry; her parents; and two brothers, Robert and Normand Guerin.
The family would like to sincerely thank the staff at Sandy River for all of their loving care shown to Doria the past years.
