Lucille V. Samson
1913 – 2009
LEWISTON — Lucille V. Samson of d’Youville Pavilion, passed away Nov. 23, after a short illness.
She was born in Lewiston, Dec. 30, 1913, the daughter of Edouard and Veronique (Sarrazin) Gagne. She married William M. Samson on Oct. 13, 1933. She was a resident of Meadowview for more than 25 years and then moved to the Family Connection Boarding Home on Fair Street.
She had worked most of her life at Clark and Lown shoe. She had learned to knit at the early age of nine and spent her life knitting for friends and family. She knitted many outfits for the Androscoggin Bank doll program for needy children and was awarded many ribbons for her creations. She was very generous in giving of herself to a lot of people in need.
She leaves a son, Edward Samson and wife, Elianne, of Lewiston; one daughter, Joan and husband, Robert Colvin, of Lewiston; three grandchildren, Charles Colvin of Oregon, Keith Colvin and wife, Margie, of Florida, and Jenny Rubin and husband, Paul, of Lewiston; five great-grandchildren, Chelsea Colvin (U.S. Navy), Elizabeth and Michael Colvin of Florida, and Jared and Jordyn Rubin of Lewiston; numerous nieces and nephews, with two special nieces that she considered as sisters, Mrs. Medora Guerrette of Clearwater, Fla., and Mrs. Georgette Bachand of Lewiston; and two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Antoinette Gagne and Mrs. Delima Gagne.
She was predeceased by her husband, William in 1976; six sisters, Hermella Bonin, Blanche (Sister Generosa), Elizabeth Jacques, Rose Cote, Jeanne Larrivee and Flora Gagne; and eight brothers, Wilda, Leonard, Andre (Pete), Emile, Romeo, Leo, Armand and Dominique.
