SOUTH PARIS — The annual Tree of Caring is under way at the Maine Veterans’ Home. The project is sponsored by the Western Maine Veterans Advisory Committee.
Bulbs can be purchased for $5 each and can be in honor of someone or in memory of a loved one. All proceeds directly support the activities and special needs of the residents of Maine Veterans’ Home.
A replica of the Tree
of Caring, with bulbs, each bearing a recipient’s name, is displayed in
the lobby from Thanksgiving through New Year’s Day.
“It’s very special to have the Christmas tree in our yard. Our residents enjoy the bright lights throughout the holiday season,” said Megan Batchelder, administrative assistant. The official lighting of the tree will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4, at the facility. The public is welcome to attend.
Bulbs can be purchased at the facility, 477 High St., or by mailing a check made out to WMVAC and information to Richard Young, 159 Paris Hill Road, South Paris, ME 04281. For more information, call the facility at 743-6300, and ask for Megan Batchelder.
