FARMINGTON — Two people were indicted Tuesday on manslaughter charges in connection with separate vehicle accidents that killed two Jay residents.

Barbara Benoit, 50, of Jay, was indicted on charges of manslaughter and aggravated operating under the influence of alcohol in an accident that killed her husband, Peter Benoit, 56, on July 12 on Route 133 in Jay.

A manslaughter conviction carries up to 30 years in prison, and aggravated OUI is punishable by up to 10 years in prison.

Barbara Benoit was driving a 2008 Subaru Outback on the way home from the couple’s Farmington restaurant, and lost control of the car and hit a guardrail. She then drove the vehicle home, about a half-mile away, and called an ambulance, police said previously. Her husband, a passenger in the front seat of the car, was pronounced dead at the scene.

“She was over the legal limit for excessive blood alcohol at the time of the crash,” Assistant District Attorney James Andrews said.

Richard Greco, 59, who has a post office box in Wilton, was indicted on one count of manslaughter and two counts of operating under the influence that caused serious bodily injury.

According to police, Greco who lived in Dixfield at the time, was the driver of a truck that collided head-on with a sport utility vehicle on March 27 on Route 2, near the Route 156 intersection in Wilton. Avis E. Penttengill, 73, of Jay was killed in the accident.

Penttengill was a front-seat passenger in an SUV driven by Shawn Hiscock, 29 at the time, of Jay. Hiscock and his wife, Heather Hiscock, 30 at the time, received serious injuries, which required them to be taken by medical helicopter to separate hospitals. Two young children in the Hiscock’s vehicle were also injured in the crash.

The indictment is based on being under the influence of prescription medication, Andrews said.

Two blood tests were taken after the crash, one for alcohol and one for toxicology for medication, he said.

The convictions carry up to 30 years in jail and five years in jail, respectively.

In another indictment, Tracy Ricker , 42, of Cumberland was indicted on a charge of forgery. A conviction carries up to 10 years in prison.

Ricker, formerly of Eustis, “stole thousands of dollars, allegedly, from her employer J. L. Brochu,” a Stratton based logging company, Andrews said.

According to a lawsuit filed in a Franklin County court earlier this year, the company accuses Ricker, a former bookkeeper for the company, of embezzling more than $450,000.

The forgery charge stems from her forging company checks, Andrews said. According to the indictment, the forgeries were done between about March 16, 2005, and Jan. 26, 2009.

The Franklin County grand jury also issued indictments in the following cases:
