I take issue with the statements made by some of the city councilors of Auburn in the Sun Journal story on Nov 14. To downsize the Dec. 7 inauguration to punish the mayor-elect shows just how mean-spirited the elected officials can be.

The councilors do represent the city of Auburn, and if they think differently, it may be time they run for national office, where they can be as arrogant as they please.

If Councilors Herrick and Farrell were offended by the remarks made by the mayor-elect, it is probably to them it was directed.

Farrell may not be an employee of Auburn, but he represents the people of Auburn.

Where is their pride for the office they hold? Do they go to official functions or church dressed the way they show up at City Council meetings? If so, shame, shame on them.

No wonder, the Twin Cities are looked on as cities to pass by as quickly as possible. With people like those representing them, there is no reason to stop.

With attitudes like those, we deserve no better service than what we get.
