Actor Patrick Dempsey is being billed as a celebrity volunteer in Sunday’s new episode of “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” on ABC, where the Marshalls of Lyme, N.H., will be given a new home.

Dempsey met the family in early October at the Wolf Cove Inn in Poland, after they’d cut their Disney vacation short for a surprise. Meeting him was the surprise. Dempsey, who grew up locally, had been in town for a bike challenge to raise money for The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing.

The Marshalls have eight children, one of whom has had leukemia. Their old house had mold issues. The episode airs at 8 p.m.
