Frank Carlton Saunders

1946-2009

TAMPA, Fla. — Frank Carlton Saunders passed away Nov. 22.

Frank was born March 17, 1946, in Bethal, the son of Marie Evelyn Gibson Saunders Bernard and Elmo Everett Saunders Sr., both deceased. He grew up in Bethel playing with trucks and drove log trucks and trailers for his Dad. In 1963, he moved to Poughkeepsie, N.Y. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1965, at the time of the Vietnam conflict. His son, Troy Oneil Saunders, was born in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. Frank them moved to Florida and drove for many trucking companies until he went into the manufactured home set-up and service construction business.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret (Peggy) Grant Saunders, married whom he married Aug. 31, 1985; a son, Troy O. Saunders and wife, Angela Juliet Saunders; three grandchildren, Dylan, Dakota and Dalton; two sisters, Louise Marie Saunders of Blowing Rock, N.C., and Janice Estelle Saunders Tyler and husband, Richard A. Tyler, of Rochester, N.H.; one brother, Elmo Everett Saunders Jr. and wife, Regina Saunders, of Bloomingburg, N.Y.; and Aunt Roberta Gibson Pevear of Exeter, N.H.; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Frank battled multiple health challenges the past 15 years.
