Again, on the agenda of the Rumford Board of Selectmen’s agenda was reducing expenditures this fiscal year by 10 percent. Agian, no action was taken to make any savings a reality. People of Rumford, your tax rate is the highest in the state, having jumped an astounding 22.5 mil in one year.
A request was made Monday to release the 80 recycling bins collecting dust and junk in the town manager’s office to put them to use for the purpose they were intended. No action, again.
A request was made by a citizen for the board to direct the town manager to adjust schedules to reduce overtime to an absolute minimum, using comp time and shifts as needed. Again, no action was taken.
People, elected representatives are doing nothing to stop the bloodletting of tax dollars. We have nothing to look forward to but more of the same, and another huge tax increase next year which will only be amplified by reductions in state revenue sharing and school funding.
We must act since our representatives will not.
