Gertrude A. Labonte
1921 – 2009
LEWISTON — Gertrude A. Labonte, 88, of 4 Bradford St., Lewiston, died peacefully at the Hospice House in Auburn on Wednesday, Nov. 25.
Born in Rumford on Oct. 3, 1921, she was the daughter of Ozar and Gertrude Strout Cote. Educated in Rumford schools, she was a 1936 graduate of Stephens High School, and was employed for many years at Peck’s Department Store.
After her retirement, she and her husband of 69 years spent their winters in Florida for many years. She enjoyed reading and doing crossword puzzles.
She is survived by her husband, Francois, of Lewiston; daughter, Pauline and her husband, Ronald Bureau, of Auburn; a sister, Monica McInnis, of Lewiston; four grandchildren, Gail Miller of Sabattus, Tony Letourneau and his wife, Katie, of Hebron, Karen Plourde and her husband, Michael, of Turner, and Lisa Bureau of Lewiston; five great-grandchildren, Kyle and Kasey Miller, Cameron Letourneau, and Megan and Derek Plourde.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Jeannette Letourneau, and a brother, Richard Sullivan.
